One of the oldest sportsbook and poker rooms on the internet is still open to American Poker online players. Bodog, also known as BodogLife, is one of a few online poker rooms still accepting US-based poker players since online poker legislation was passed in 2006. Bodog is home to one of the most popular sign-up bonuses found in the world of online poker today. The Bodog poker bonus of 110% up to $500 also comes with an additional 10% in instant cash! You don’t need to enter a sign-up code, just install the Bodog client, deposit funds, and your account will be credited with an extra 10%. From that point on you have thirty days to earn the actual deposit bonus which is 100% up to $500. In order to acquire the bonus you must collect 10 points for every $1 of the welcome bonus. Players acquire points by creating rake in ring games or paying house fees in tournaments or SNGs. To clear the whole $500 sign-up bonus you need to earn 1,500 points by grinding real money games.
Bodog does not have as many players as PokerStars.com or Full Tilt Poker, but it still has a fair-sized player base for micro and mid-stakes players. Most of the Sit & Gos running will be at the $20 entry fee or below while the steeper buy-in levels are generally heads-up Sit & Gos. Bodog does offer Omaha and Stud SNGs as well as one on one and two table formats. Their tournament schedule is highlighted by the weekly $100k Guaranteed which is scheduled to run every Sunday. The $150+$12 buy-in MTT hardly ever gets enough entrants to reach its $100,000 guarantee which is awesome news for those who take part in the tournament, as Bodog.com shells out a ton of overlay. There are many less expensive guaranteed tournaments running every day including multiple R&A events.
One of the first things poker players notice about Bodog is how their poker client is free of lag. This allows for lightning quick game play which translates into more tournaments per hour than other online poker rooms. The Lobby is fairly easy to use, with tabs to make your way between games and stakes.
The Bodog download has a few unique aspects, including the lack of a player clock at the table. Instead, players have a status bar which slowly goes down while a player contemplates his/her decision. This greatly influences the pace of play, forcing players to make quicker decisions. The one major con to their software is they limit the number of cash tables players can play at once to 4. Unlike PokerStars or Full Tult, who allow 12, 16, or even 24 tables, this steers multi-tablers away from Bodog to other sites. While increasing this number could result in more traffic, it would actually make the games arduous.
